The Praise Team from Sudley Methodist Church is releasing a brand new CD of original Contemporary Christian music, due out in early May.  The CD, entitled “Growing in Grace: Hope for Haiti”, is the brain child of Randal Dewey, leader of the contemporary music program at SUMC.  “After visiting our mission in Cap Haitian last year, I started looking for a way to raise money for the orphanage.  Producing and selling this CD is one way I can help these amazing kids, whose needs are so great.”

Randal, an experienced musician and songwriter, composed and arranged all the songs on the CD , which consist of 11 eclectic songs, which play on a variety of musical  styles from pop, rock and blues to spiritual, gospel and world music.  Well crafted, the songs touch on a number familiar sentiments, including spiritual longing, forgiveness, and the glory of God.  The title track, “Growing in Grace”, conveys the universal sentiment of helping others while walking in the footsteps of Jesus.  “So I Can Hear Angels Sing” reminds the listener that there is a better place waiting for us in the afterlife.  “Long Ago” is a love song to Jesus Christ, interpreted by guest performer Angela Knight, of the Washington Opera Company.  Other cuts include “He Lifts Me Up”, the poignant “Still I Fall”, and a catchy ditty called “Mysterious Ways”.  Throughout the CD, Randal weaves together clever, thought-provoking lyrics with fresh melodies and interesting arrangements, making this debut album from the Sudley Praise Team a must-have.  Randal is joined on the CD by fellow Praise Team members Dianne Miller, Barth Miller and April Braun. 

All the proceeds from the Growing in Grace CD will go directly to The Hope for Haiti Foundation, which aids the orphans associated with the SUMC Haiti Mission Project.
