Brad Benton, Youth Ministry Director

Brad was born and raised in Arizona to an extremely active and founding family of the United Methodist Church’s Desert Southwest Conference. His family has a long tradition of active participation in the church, and two of Brad’s uncles are now retired from lifetime service (one minister and one director of music). Brad was baptized and completed confirmation at a very small church on the outskirts of Phoenix, before moving to a much larger congregation at Dayspring United Methodist Church in Tempe, AZ. After graduating high school, Brad completed a tour in the Marines before attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ. September 11, 2001 occurred in the middle of his freshman year at NAU. Brad returned to active duty, this time in the Army. Brad has served in various capacities for the Department of Defense for over 25 years. During that time, he completed a BA in History and an MA in International Conflict Management. He also finished two study fellowships, one at the International Criminal Court in The Hague and one in Nazareth, Israel. Brad and his wife Theresa have been married for over 20 years, and they have three children. Their oldest, Mia lives and works in Irvine, CA. Their two younger boys, Robert and Joe live with them here and enjoy regular attendance at Sudley. Alongside various project vehicles, Brad enjoys most his time with the kids and in the woods. Whether kayaking, hiking, fishing or hunting, Brad has maintained a deep connection with God’s wilderness and routinely seeks its peace as a means of reconnecting with the gifts over which He’s asked us to care.

Eugene Iosilevich, Music Director

Eugene, music director and pianist for Sudley Church, has been involved in church music ministry consistently since 2000, serving as pianist for local churches and chapels throughout his eight years with the Army Band, and from 2008 as music director here at Sudley. His early training was in competitive classical piano which later evolved to include popular and contemporary ensemble styles such as jazz, rock, folk, r+b, funk, reggae, gospel, latin jazz and fusion, which served well to diversify his work with contemporary praise bands. Eugene studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston as well as Syracuse University and the Armed Forces School of Music (Little Creek, VA). His later experiences in the Army, especially during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, allowed Eugene to witness and be inspired by the sheer power of the Holy Spirit to minister through music as he was tasked to provide music for worship services (for all denominations) in extreme environments where soldiers were often hurting for spiritual nourishment, as well as state-side where families were aching from separation from and loss of deployed loved ones. As a civilian musician and music director, Eugene has kept that passion for both variety in musical styles and, more importantly, for creating a music ministry with a deep spiritual impact on the congregation he serves. Finding his musical and worship home at Sudley Church, and having witnessed firsthand the power of this church to change lives for Jesus Christ, he continues to encourage a creative and inclusive approach to both traditional and contemporary worship, while always building toward a higher musical standard to best honor our Lord as the Sudley Choir and Praise Team. Eugene is married with two sons and resides in Centreville, VA.

They have two lovely daughters, a wonderful son-in-law, and a precious granddaughter. Linda enjoys using her administrative gifts to serve Christ here at Sudley. In her spare time, she serves in ministries at HBC, is taking sign language classes, walks often, and spends time with family and friends.

Anna Rowland, Nursery Care Provider

My husband, Nathan, and I moved to Northern Virginia with our 3 1/2 month-old daughter, Clara, back in late December 2015 from Vicksburg, MS. Nathan received a job offer in Reston, VA, so we packed our things and moved up here! It was a rough transition at first but then in 2017, we found Sudley UMC! We tried many other Methodist churches before trying Sudley, but they just didn’t feel like “home.” I grew up in a small Methodist church, Porter’s Chapel UMC, where most of the members were like family, and when we started coming to Sudley, we just knew this was the church. We officially became members in 2019, and we have met so many awesome people. Becoming a Sudley UMC member has definitely helped with my transition of being over 1,000 miles away from all my family back home! Pastor Sung and his wife, Wonsoon, are awesome, and so are all the wonderful people we have met.  I am so excited to start my journey as the Nursery Care Provider at Sudley that I may work on and strengthen my faith and knowledge in Jesus Christ, while I am also spreading the word of God to our beloved children.
